Mixed Media Pop-up Card

Hello Little Birdie fans, Maggi here to share a floral card with a surprise inside.  I used Little Birdie’s ‘Birds and Berries’ 6 x 6″  and 12 x 12″ paper packs and a sheet of coordinating cardstock to create this card.

When you open the card, a delightful floral panel pops up to surprise the recipient of this pretty card.  (The card mechanism for the pop up was made with Twist Panel Pop-up dies from Karen Burniston).

The Card Front
Let’s take a look at the layering techniques I used on the front of the card.
I selected two sheets of paper from the Birds and Berries 6 x 6 inch pack and cut to 4 3/4″ square and 4 1/2″ square.  I distressed the edges and layered the smaller piece over the larger piece.  Then I used a honeycomb mask and stenciled the design with Little Birdie’s Mixed Media Paste.

Next I randomly cut pieces off the Honey Comb chipboard so that it’s shape would be irregular and then lightly painted over the piece with white gesso.  After it was dry, I adhered it to the left side of my card.

I selected one of the doiles from the 12 x 12 inch paper pack and adhered to the front, at the centre.  Notice that I cut a piece out on the right.  I did this so that my flowers would nestle better.

Sometimes I deconstruct a flower so that I can snug it under the papers and other flowers.  I removed the two petal layers at the back, from this flower and cut them in half so that I could push them under the doily.

I placed my flower piece and added a bed of leaves before adhering the flowers.

I  fussy cut a sentiment from the elements paper in the 12 x 12 inch paper pack and adhered it to the front. To finish off the card and give it a shabby appearance I dry brushed white gesso over the flowers and the card.

To make the pretty pop up cards inside, I fussy cut images from the elements sheet and adhered to scalloped die-cut papers from the collection.

That’s it.  I hope that my layering tips will help you with your designs!  Thanks for joining me today.

Love ATC cards

Hi, it’s Karolina here,

This time I decided to make a smaller project. I made for you love ATC cards. I created a set of three ATC’s using mostly with 6×6 inch ‘True Love’ paper collection. I fussy cute a lots of small elements and combined them into three separate compositions.

On every card I used a silhouette of a couple in love, their size is perfect for cards and atc’s. I wanted to add some texture so I used my favorite white texture paste by Little Birdie Crafts. My cards are multilayered and very three-dimensional .

Flowers from Little Birdie are so beautiful that I can not resist to use them on every of my projects. I added glitter and Sparkle Paste to add some sparkle and more festive look to my cards.

On the background I used, ready to use laces from ‘Celebrate Life’ paper collection.

Here are supplies I used for this project:

True love paper pack 6×6

Celebrate life 12×12 paper pack

Hand made flowers in red color

White chalk paint for making small splashes

Sparkle paste Passion pink

Thank you for Stopping by and have a great day!

Vintage Diary Cover

Hi friends,

Hello everyone, Ruchi here with another inspirational project. I have altered a diary cover to give it a vintage look with supplies from Little Birdie Crafts. I am continuing with my recycling theme in this project too. I have used packing material from chipboard packs to give dimension to the base of the diary.

Here is the project followed by the step by step process.

Step 1 : The first step is always to decide what to make. I am always looking to work with different bases in terms of their usage and medium, so as to inspire you to take up any project that you fancy. Today I decided to alter a diary which was given as a gift to me .The first thing I did was to give it a coat of white gesso so that whatever color mediums I use later would have a better coverage and will not seep into the cover.

Next I took out some of the packing material which comes with the chipboard shapes. They are packed in such a wonderful sheets that I can never discard them.

Step 2 : Now I decided to add some dimension to the tags and pulled out various stencils that I had. These are all from Little Birdie Crafts and I used modelling paste through them to add texture.

I placed them in this way on the cover. Some I used as it is, and some I cut into circles.

Step 3 : Once everything dried, I decided to give it a coat of black gesso as I wanted a more vintage look. I also dug out a picture of a vintage couple and decided to use a watercolor embellishment from Little Birdie Crafts as a frame.

Step 4 : Now to add more dimension and interest to the project, I added some chipboard shapes. Also, I completed my composition with some handmade flowers and leaves. There are some awesome designs of chipboard shapes from Little Birdie Crafts and it is always a pleasure to work with them.

Step 5 : I used some chalk paints to give the look and then added some craft pellets. I also did some dry brushing with white gesso to highlight some areas. Finally I decided to enhance certain areas with copper metallic wax.
