Have used 2-step crackle effect to get these beautiful cracksUsing Little Birdie flowers is my favorite part. It makes projects delicate… I have used Aqua Medley handmade flowers. Chose to use amazing watercolour die cuts from the store.
Hi, Little Birdie Crafts Friends! How are you? My schedule has been very hectic these past few days and I’ve been missing journaling. The thing is, it’s hard to find time to do it. So I took a one day of my weekend to create a quick junk journal just to decompress.
I made this junk journal using Little Birdie Crafts’ Aqua Medley collection. I’ll share with you a few step by step pictures on how this journal was built.
I listed all the materials I used from Little Birdie Crafts. Apart from those, I also made use of an aquamarine passport-sized journal I had at hand, along with some ribbon laces and a few strips of canvas fabric. Another integral part of this project are several pages from an old book I own. These pages will serve as our base.
Step 1 – The first step is to set your papers’ size at about 1/2 or 1 inch smaller than the journal cover.
Step 2 – Crumple each one to give it a grungy look
Step 3 – Haphazardly pile/stack 3-4 pieces of papers and glue them in place. You’ll need to create 6 of these.
Step 4 – Once done, apply white gesso onto surface roughly as shown in picture.
Step 5 – Add one of the fussy cut elements from the 12×12 Aqua Medley Paper pack
Step 6 – Repeat the process on the remaining 5 stacks you created from Step 3
Step 7 – Slowly build your composition using the flowers, fussy cuts and embellishments. Then lightly brush and splatter Chalk Paints and Metallic Paint on layout.
Step 8 – Repeat Step 7 on all paper stacks
Step 9 – Using some strips of canvas fabric, glue in your finished pieces on the left and right edges of the strip of fabric, to start forming your journal’s flip through pages.
Step 10 – Add some cards and more fussy cuts from the 12×12 Aqua Medley Paper Pack
Step 11 – Once done, set aside and cut a circle from one of the 12×12 papers and glue in some lace fabric around the edge of the circle as shown below.
Step 12 – Repeat the composition steps as done in the inside pages of the journal (step 7). Then attach another strip of lace at the back of your design to serves as the closing ties for the journal.
Once everything is assembled, the journal’s front cover design will appear like the image below:
All that’s left to do is place your inside pages within the journal. Since mine is a travel journal, it has elastics inside where I just slipped in my pages.
I love the shades of blue in this collection. It’s very calming and soothing in appearance.
