Do you love beautiful rich and vibrant colors? I do! Especially when they are contrasted with a fabulous metallic like gold or copper.
I was recently inspired by a wedding backdrop of floral hoops; fresh flowers wrapped onto green florist’s hoops. I decided to create a smaller hoop as a backdrop for a cake table.
I started with a gorgeous gold macrame hoop, with a bold purple and pink palette. Using the movement and flow of ribbon, I then incorporated the flowers I used on the flowers on the top of my cake and around the table as accents. They really pop and the sparkly gold make a great accent for any palette.
This hoop is simple to make yourself, so you can quickly whip up a beautiful backdrop that incorporates floral details! Little Birdie flowers made it so easy for me to create, the ribbon selection includes packs with colors from a complimenting palette and the stunning flowers give the piece a glamorous and romantic feel.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Pink Organza Ribbon
- Purple Satin Ribbon
- Pink Satin Ribbon
- Gold Sparkle Asena Flowers
- Gold Sparkle Cosette Flowers
- Gold Metal Ring 8-inch.
- Hot glue gun and glue
Gather all materials needed.
Take a strip of ribbon, fold it over into 2 equal lengths. Put the ends of the ribbon through the loop at the top of the ribbon so that the ribbon is tied to the hoop. Each strip of ribbon in the pack is already to cut to an appropriate starting length.
Repeat the process for the other pieces of ribbon, order them according to your color preference.
Trim the ribbon, removing any loose strands and so that the ribbons are to the length you prefer.
Take the flowers and arrange them in a pattern you like. Lay out pieces to get a feel for how they will look on the hoop. Note: I took the larger flowers and had them on the bottom left and smaller flowers were used to graduate up the hoop. I also left a space and had a smaller group of flowers to the top right.
Adhere the flowers to the loop and to the ribbon if you have chosen to adhere across the top of the ribbon. Use hot glue to secure.
You can hang this up and use it as a backdrop for your cake. If you have a larger cake or dessert table, make several and hang them at different heights behind the table.
Alternatively, you could use it as a front door wreath or add details to the center to create a unique dream catcher. I love the color and movement of this piece.
The range of Little Birdie Flowers are amazing!
