Pretty In Pink Canvas Wall Art

Hi, Crafty Friends!! Design Team Member, Mitsyana, here! And I’m back again with Little Birdie Crafts to bring you another “Clean” Mixed Media Project.

I love mixed media but don’t like getting too grungy and dirty. I like the textures and layering but am drawn to a bright and fresh color palette.

So, I create my mixed media with my personal style and likes in mind.. because ART is about personal expression and there’s no wrong way to do art!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Step 1: Place Stencil Script Design onto the pre-primed canvas and apply whipped modeling paste with a plastic spatula. Remove the stencil and set aside to dry.

Step 2: Once paste is dried, apply paint over the entire canvas with French Rose Chalk Paint and a paint brush. Then set aside to dry. You can speed up drying time with a heat gun.

Step 3: Apply Gilding paste along the edges of the canvas and the raised texture of the paste.

Step 4: Remove the backing from the decorative picture frame.

Step 5: Attach the decorative picture frame onto the painted canvas using mixed media glue and set aside to dry.

Step 6: Trim two links from the top of one of the Chipboard Ornate Pendants.

Step 7: Mix together white gesso and texture powder into a paste.

Step 8: Apply the paste mixture over the Chipboard Ornate Pendants and the Chipboard Garden Butterflies then lightly rub Pebeo Gilding wax over the raised textured surfaces.

Step 9: Adhere Garden Butterfly chipboard piece to the mounted frame using more mixed media glue.

Step 10: Attach the Renae Blush flowers and Kraft Leaves around the decorative frame in a cascading fashion with more mixed media glue.

Step 11: Attach Chipboard Ornate Pendants with more mixed media glue to the upper left side of the canvas to make them appear to dangle down.

Step 12: Attach a small flower from the Renae Blush flowers set onto each of the Chipboard Ornate Pendants.

Step 13: Run mixed media glue along the sides of the canvas and attach the tulle ribbon around the perimeter and set aside to dry.

Here is the gorgeous finished canvas…

More detailed pictures…

Lots and lots of texture…

This canvas would be great for a number of different themes. It would totally work for a fairy, princess, or spring themes and adds a rich feel to your decor.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial on how I create my “clean” mixed media! If you love mixed media but don’t like a dark grungy style… try this approach. And don’t forget to just have fun, you’ll be amazed on what you create!

Dyed Moire Silk Placecards

There are many ways to save money when planning a wedding, and beautiful place cards for your wedding seating chart are no exception. This step by step tutorial will guide you through the steps to create elegant, hand dyed silk table frames that are perfect for use as place card holders, but can also be made into ornaments, used in scrapbook layouts, or used as small photo frames.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Step 1. Lay the placecards on paper towels or craft rags that can be dyed. Spray liberally with Color Splash.

Step 2. When the Color Splash alcohol ink has dried, use hot glue to adhere flowers around the frame’s opening, as shown. Note the way that the color has absorbed into the silk surface of the placecard frame. It has the look of watercolor that is so trendy right now!

Step 3. Continue adding flowers in a configuration that is pleasing to your eye. Blending different varieties of Little Birdie Crafts flowers creates a beautiful look.

To complete the place cards, just script the names using the black fine point marker, and display on place settings or at a seating chart display at your event.

It’s easy to create this look in any color scheme with the vast array of beautiful paper flowers and embellishments at Little Birdie Crafts!

Step 8: Fill the miniature teacup with moss.

Step 9: Trim the mini roses from their stems, as shown.

Step 10: Add a drop of glue to the back of each flower head and place into the moss, as shown.
