Mixed Media Memory Box

Hello, Creatives!

Memory boxes are such fun! My fingers were itching to play with the Black Current Color splash and Drift Wood Chalk paint.  And this is what I came up with. I just loved working with Tinted Metallic Paints too! I think they are my new favorite medium!

Step 1

To prepare the Book Box, I unscrewed the hinges and set them aside. To create texture I randomly stenciled with the mosaic stencil and “Grainy Texture Paste” on the cover of the Book Box and then dried with the craft heat tool.

Step 1

Step 2

I painted the Book Box with the “Drift wood” acrylic Chalk paint. The Chalk paint dry quite fast, I had no need to use the heat tool. To add depth I sprayed with “Gathered Twigs” Distress Stain and to add color, I sprayed with the glorious”Black Current” color splash. I used the “Golden Plum” and “Glazed Berries” Tinted Metallic paint , thinned down with water and a flared paint brush to splatter across the book cover. I used the craft heat tool again to dry the paint and ink splatters.

Step 2

Step 3

As focus point I used the Primed chipboard – Heart Vine Square frame and painted it with the “Golden Plum” Tinted Metallic paint. I raised the the frame and photo with cardboard and  layered a small piece of Cheesecloth  more or less in the centre of the Book Cover.

Step 3

Step 4

I arranged the flowers, “Natalie Butter Milk” and “Embossed Daisies- Bisque” around the frame and finished off with rhinestones, crystal domes and  brass ringes. To adhere the flowers and frame, I used the “Heavy Gel Medium)

Step 4

Step 5

To finish the project off,  I replace the hinges with vintage brass hinges.

I used the following Little Birdie supplies for this project:

Mixed Media Burlap Layout

Hey Guys !
Today I have for you really easy mixed media canvas with Little Birdie products. I preferred some materials to use in my piece. I want to create something super dimensional to hang on wall.

I started with burlap panel and texture paste . I spread it  around my canvas . I was trying to keep majority of product in area that will be my composition.

On top of that I made collage of old book pages, tissue paper and decoupage papers.

On top of that I went with texture paste again, but this time through a stencil.

I have painted my frame and embroidery ring on white with acrylic ink.  And I started to put my work together. I started with largest elements , except for the embroidery ring I used resin on a floral chipboard and focused my flower arrangements around them .

To finish my piece I added some details and sentiments from stickers.

For a tiny bit of madness in quite a clean project, I’m adding splashes with black acrylic ink .

Final piece is romantic and delicate and I’m really happy how this turned out .

Products I use :

Cacti Shadow Box

Haey Guys !
Olga here !  So today I have another project inspired by succulents and their packaging . I used the package to create shelf for my flower pots and this way this fun shadowbox happened. I started with some paper sentiment succulents from different sets, some mixed media stones, texture sand and dried moss.

First I cut and fit my shelves into deep canvas frame painted on white. I used all pieces of package and created illusion of wooden wall.

Then I arranges my flowers and pots on my shelves. Some of those cacti plants I disassembled and arranged around to fill all the gaps. One of empty pots I added at my frame I will fill it with my main flower composition

I added a little bit of moss here and there to create nice flow of green in my piece. When I was happy with my moss I attached paper sentiments with gel medium and distance foams.

To add cool natural look on top of my moss I added some stones and sand with gel medium

In my empty pot I assembled my own cacti plant from different spare plants . I really liked red flower detail here and I repeat this accent in few spots of my Shadowbox.

I’m really happy with final result. Love this cool look that those flowers bring into projects. This one is really cute and fun to make home decor piece  can be also used as a gift for any occasion. . I hope I inspired you to play a little bit with cacti flowers and pay more attention to cool packages 🙂
