Freedom-Journal Entry

Hi friends and fellow crafters,

Ruchi here today. Hope you all are enjoying the creative projects brought to you by the Little Birdie Crafts design team. It is great fun to work with their  wide range of products.

Today, I am going to share something different than my usual mixed media works. I am also very much into art journalling and pursue the same with great passion. The whole process of art journalling calms my mind and gives my creative energy a boost! As I often find myself inhibited by my very meticulous approach to things,  I am more overwhelmed by the process of creating and forget to enjoy my ART!

Thus I created this journal page as symbolic of my FREEDOM to enjoy art and do what my heart desires. We all have limited time which almost seems like flying away in the daily grind of life. Hence used clock face and bees….

FREEDOM :  Art Journal Entry

Step by Step Process:

Step 1.

I chose to create this page in my Little Birdie Art Journal. This journal is quite huge (19.5cmx26cm) and contains 52 pages of 440gsm cold pressed cotton paper. This is very sturdy and suitable for all kinds of mixed media work. I thought I will showcase the same to you. The first step was to coat the spread with Little Birdie Gesso. On top of that I used decoupage glue to paste a tissue which had clock faces. I chose this as I wanted clocks as my focal point. Once pasted, I used a stencil with color sprays to add some colours and a design.

Step 2:

Once the spray was dry, I used the Mixed Media Paste to cover all the areas I did not wish to be seen.  Next, I colored those portions with my water soluble crayons. After this, I chose some stencils from Little Birdie’s collection and decided to play with them. I used Sparkle Paste to add some coordinating color to the page.

I also decided to use the leaf pattern from the stencil but just a cluster of them. So masked the rest of stencil and used only the portion which I found interesting.

Step 3:

I also thought of adding some bees which represents perseverance (hard labour to gain nectar). The bees are stamped and colored with Sparkle Paste.

Step 4:

I pasted the elements onto the page using gel medium. I also pasted the quote which is again a gentle reminder to myself. I had loads of fun creating this for you. Hope you enjoyed it!

Keep crafting!

“Loads of Love” – Single Page Layout

Hi there Creatives!

This time I’m back with another scrapbook layout, using some amazing Little Birdie products!

For my background I selected paper from 3 different paper packs: Texture Brew, Aqua Medley and Chevron in Aquarelle. As well as some crochet lace. I started with the rose strip cut from the Aqua Medley’s fussy-cut page and distressed the edges. I added the crochet lace and woodgrain paper piece at the bottom.

I wanted some texture as the first layer, so I used the Irregular Dot Stencil with white Mixed Media Paste.

Next, I splattered with some Mocha Color Splash.

Then I stencilled (Spotty Stencil) with my favourite Sparkle Paste: Silver Sage, and stamped randomly with brown ink.

I fussy cut more elements from the Aqua Medley. I cut about 1mm away from the image border.

A tip: instead of moving the scissors, move the paper, it makes fussy cutting so much easier!

I sprayed the Bamboo Primed Chipboard with Mocha Color Splash. It needed a few layers to have the tone I liked..

Painted my title with the Silver Sage Sparkle Paste again. (Love this color!)

I took all the fussy-cut elements including some flowers and created the focus point. Some of the elements are raised with foam tape and carton. I also layered a piece of Aqua Medley paper and a piece of packaging where the photograph will be placed.

Finally I added Little Birdie Sisal fibre behind the raised photograph to add more interest and depth.

Here are a close-up view of my focal point and other parts of the layout.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you found some inspiration here to create something beautiful!

Happy creating!
