Altered Shabby Chic Embroidery Hoop

Hello Creative Peeps, Sumedha here on the blog today.

Wishing you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!

I am super excited to share my 1st DT project for Little Birdie Crafts with you all.

Lets begin. I had bought an embroidery hoop from Little Birdie store and thought of altering it into a shabby chic home decor. I gave a coat of White Gesso to the hoop covering all the sides

Once the Gesso was dry, I watered down some drops of multi-surface paints Pink Swirl and Apricot Butter and gave a light wash to the entire hoop as shown in the picture below

Once the colours dried, I added gilding paste randomly in some places and waited for 15-20 minutes for the paste to dry. Once the paste was dry I added Gold gilding flakes. I took a beautiful cardstock from the Shabby Chic Bouquet paper collection and traced the outer circle of the hoop and cut the paper out for the base.

I took a piece of chicken mesh from my stash and cut a circle from it. I ran an embossing pen over the chicken wire and added WOW embossing powder.

I added the chicken mesh on top of my hoop and secured any open edges with the help of pliers. I glued the floral cardstock which I had cut earlier with silicon glue on the other side of the hoop

Now was the time to decorate the hoop. I have taken ephemera from Poppies and Rose collection and Bird and Berries collection, primed chipboard swirls, some die cuts and flowers from Sunshine and lemonade and Amor Mio collection to complete the look. I added a sentiment “Everyday is a new beginning” in hope of a fabulous 2021.

I hope you like my project and will give it a try.
