It’s Tracey back to share a romantic mixed media canvas featuring the gorgeous ‘Birds and Berries’ Collection along with a video tutorial sharing all the details on how I put this together. This is my first ever video tutorial with voice. I would adore hearing what you think and how you like it.
In this DIY Mixed Media Canvas Tutorial Learn how to:
~ Adhere base paper to the canvas
~ Sand to distress edges
~ Add texture by stenciling with Grainy Texture Paste
~ Add color and texture to chipboard
~ Paint resin pieces
~ Use art wax to highlight texture
~ Dry brush with white gesso to highlight texture and soften colors
~ Add texture with Craft Pellets and Metal Microbeads
~ Add depth with Color Splash

Tips and Techniques:
I’ve used gorgeous Little Birdie flowers, chipboard, Craft Pellets, and Metallic Microbeads to create this beautiful floral cluster.
I created a grungy finish on these chipboard bird cages with Crackle Paste, and Tinted Metallic Paints. The berries are fussy cut from the Birds and Berries paper set.
More Crackled chipboard goodness. Of course I had to add a bit of bling using rhinestones for the “berries.”
Aren’t these wings beautiful? Underneath them you can see lace peeking through. It was layered over the base paper with soft gel medium.
I mixed Craft Pellents and Metal Microbeads into Soft Gel Medium to spread around the cluster for added texture. Color Splash is used to add depth around the cluster and chipboard pieces.
This sweet dragonfly was cast with resin then painted with Tinted Metallic paints and rubbed with gold Metallic Wax.
