Shabby Chic

 Hello Again Crafty Friends!

Today I’ve got a fun mixed media card for you that utilizes many of the gorgeous materials from Little Birdie Crafts.

To start, I grabbed this super cool chipboard clock and was thinking that it would be even more beautiful if it had a slight gold coloring to it.  So, I took the gold Metallic Wax and started adding some color to the edges and LOVED IT!

Once I had the clock looking the way I wanted, I went looking for something to put it on.  I simply adore the ‘Texture Brew’ paper pack.  It has the coolest patterns of wood, textiles and brick.  I picked out the white washed and worn piece and went to work creating my design.

I knew I didn’t want a super clean design so I added some paint splatters with the Chalk Paint in the colors Whipped Seafoam and Frozen Ice.  I really love how it just added a bit of color to the piece when it was looking kind of plain before.

I used some embellishment pieces from the Boho Dreams paper pack.  There is a sheet in there that has some beautiful things that are great all on their own!  I added some of the gold wax to the edges of those pieces to tie in the gold and also make the images look less stark.

Once my card was coming along, I grabbed a greeting from the Watercolor Floral Ballet paper pack.  There is a neat sheet in that pack that has coordinating floral images, large greetings and smaller ones.

Lastly, I needed some bling so I went with the Bling Fiesta Silver Pack shiny ones.  I didn’t have any gold ones so I added some of the gold wax prior to adhering them and I think they came out great!

I hope you enjoyed my project share today and that you get inspired to try something new or different.  Until next time, have an amazing day!

Steampunk Wooden Box

Hi everyone it’s Hilda here with a new project and tutorial.
It’s an Steampunk wooden Box. For decoration I used Little Birdie chipboards, resin elements and colored with waxes.

I started sticking some lace on the top of the box and also stick embossed cardboard on the sides of the box.

Once dry, I select the chipboards and embellishments.

Started to stick them on the box.

To finish off I colored with waxes .

Thank you for visiting this blog post and I hope this inspired you to create something as well!

Free-form ATC – The Summer Triangle

Hello, it’s Jinal! it’s October and I am here with another tutorial with another form of mixed media.

ATC are always fun, what excites me more that there are so many elements one can add in these cute, tiny form… ATC are usually limited to 2.5*3.5 card however free-form ATC gives you the opportunity to play around with different shapes

These are my ‘The Summer Triangle’ literally inspired by the constellation. It is actually the amalgamation of stars from three separate constellation i.e. they form a giant triangle in the sky composed of three bright stars – Vega, Altair and Deneb

STEPS TO MAKE THIS:

STEP 1: Prime it with white gesso, allow it to dry… Then apply chalk paints of your choice.

STEP 2: Use reverse stenciling technique when one of the star is still drying.. pick up the extra colour with baby-wipes…. you can even use background stamps to add texture.

STEP 3: on the branches/leaves elements painted with chalk paint and then used WOW embossing powder over it for the grungy and shiny effect.

STEP 4: Layer it with your embellishments- chipboards, moulds, critters, hand-made flowers.

Hope you liked my make for this month…
