Free-form ATC – The Summer Triangle

Hello, it’s Jinal! it’s October and I am here with another tutorial with another form of mixed media.

ATC are always fun, what excites me more that there are so many elements one can add in these cute, tiny form… ATC are usually limited to 2.5*3.5 card however free-form ATC gives you the opportunity to play around with different shapes

These are my ‘The Summer Triangle’ literally inspired by the constellation. It is actually the amalgamation of stars from three separate constellation i.e. they form a giant triangle in the sky composed of three bright stars – Vega, Altair and Deneb

STEPS TO MAKE THIS:

STEP 1: Prime it with white gesso, allow it to dry… Then apply chalk paints of your choice.

STEP 2: Use reverse stenciling technique when one of the star is still drying.. pick up the extra colour with baby-wipes…. you can even use background stamps to add texture.

STEP 3: on the branches/leaves elements painted with chalk paint and then used WOW embossing powder over it for the grungy and shiny effect.

STEP 4: Layer it with your embellishments- chipboards, moulds, critters, hand-made flowers.

Hope you liked my make for this month…

Mixed Media Tags

Hello, Little Birdie Crafts Friends! How are you all doing today?

I’ll be sharing with you how I created these mixed media tags using various material from Little Birdie Crafts.

  • Step 1 : Coat the cardstock with some clear gesso.
  • Step 2 : Add some torn up book pages on the tags and add another coat of Clear Gesso.
  • Step 3 : Paint on some acrylic paint and metallic paint on the tags but leave off enough areas unpainted to show off a bit of those book pages.
  • Step 4 : Once paint is dry, coat random areas of the surface with One-Step Crackle Medium.
  • Step 5 : Once the Crackle Medium is dry, apply a coat of white paint over the crackled areas
  • Step 6 : Add in embellishments and layer them according to your preference, then glue them in place.
  • Step 7: Paint over the embellishments with metallic paints and brush them with some metallic wax
  • Step 8: Add darker paints within the sides of the embellishments to help your design pop out, then add in some micro beads and jute strings to finish off the design. And that’s it!

These are perfect little tokens to give to your friends and family or as trade cards with fellow crafters.
