Today I have a tutorial on how to create a stunning altered book using Little Birdie flowers!I love working in old vintage books that are heading to the trash. Here is the beginning of getting the layers right. I tore some pages out and glued them farther out, to make the book wider. I also added in bits of lace ever 10 or so pages. I glued some in with soft gel medium. Here, you can see how some of those pages have been moved all around. You can see, I curled the edges by putting soft gel on them, rolling them up with a paint brush, and heat setting them with a heat gun.Now I took a decoupage paper (Butterfly flight graceful) and glued them down also with soft gel medium. Next I took LB 2-1 Mixed Media Paste, watered it down, and lightly went across the edges of the butterfly paper to give it a nice blend. Next I used the 2-1 Mixed Media Paste through a stencil to give some interest to the background. Here you can see I have added some stamping, along with laying my flowers. I used heavy gel medium to hold my flowers down. Almost done! The last steps are to add green color wash over the stenciling. I added metal microbeads with soft gel, then took 2-1 Mixed Media paste and dry brushed my flowers to give the whole book a flow!
