Sunset At The Lake

Hi Lovely Peeps!

This is Saira here with my first guest design project!

I strongly believe in a famous quote by Kristen Butler – Sunsets are a proof that no matter what happens, everyday can end beautifully! And what’s better than creating a lovely sunset painting using watercolors from LittleBirdie!

For this painting, I have used colors – Citrine, Yellow, Pink, Rosy, Bluish purple, Brown and Black

And below are the process images along with instructions

Step 1: Make a rough sketch of the image, i added few branches and taped the watercolor paper on all four sides using a masking tape

Step 2 : Add layer of clean water wash on the upper half of the horizon line, and to create the sky, apply flat wash with colors – Citrine, yellow, Rosy and Pink and some dash of bluish violet color. Once this is dried, add some mountains using Bluish violet and some brown color

Step 3: Once dried, remove the masking tape at the center, and apply a layer of clean water wash to the bottom end of the horizon lane. To paint the lake, again add the same colors that we added for the sky, keeping some white space for the reflection of sun rays

Step 4: Once the colors dry, using dry brush technique, add a dash of rosy and bluish violet to the lake. Using a liner brush create the branches using black color

Step 5: Add leaves randomly using black color and also highlight the sunlight on the lake using white color

Step 6: Carefully remove the masking tape on all four sides (this rather is a very satisfying activity) and Voila! We have a beautiful and Vibrant Sunset Painting!
