Woodland Stories Mixed Media Hanging Card

Woodland Stories Mixed Media Hanging Card

Hello, Friends! It’s Kathy here with a lovely fall home décor project. This 6″ x 8″ hanging card is so quick and easy to make with Little Birdie ‘Woodland Stories’ papers and embellishments. It’s the perfect way to add a touch of autumn to your home.

Begin by cutting the image from a 4×6 inch Journal card with an oval die and your Little Birdie Dream Cut – die cutting and embossing machine. Then dry brush the edges of the image with a little white chalk paint. Back the image with foam tape.

Next, cut a 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″ floral corner panel. Back the panel with foam tape. Mat this on a 5″ x 7″ panel of the blue background paper. These edges are also distressed by dry brushing white chalk paint over them.

Now, mat these two panels on a 5 7/8″ x 7 7/8″ panel of the small floral print from the Woodland Stories pad. Paint a Circular Lattice Chipboard with white chalk paint and adhere it on the left hand side. Spritz the papers and the chipboard with Copper Mica Spray. Then wrap the left hand side of the panel with some ribbon or other textiles.

Now comes the fun part! Create a floral cascade with Little Birdie Boho Vibes and Aqua Medley flowers. Tuck in some feathers, Chipboard Grass, ribbon and twine. Then spatter everything with white chalk paint and copper mist to add a lovely shabby chic finish.

I had this old vintage style hanger in my stash. But the finish was not quite right. So I spritzed it with Copper Mist and then it blended in with the papers and flowers perfectly.

I’ll add a linked supply list below so you can make your own!

Summery Slimline Floral Card with Video Tutorial

Hello dear Little Birdie Fans! It’s Tracey here with a new creation for you. Summer is just around the corner and those warm (hot) temperatures have arrived along with beautiful vibrant flowers coming into full bloom which inspired me to pull out the gorgeous Boho Dreams collection filled with amazing yellows, corals, and pinks!!

Slimline cards are trending these days, so I thought I’d use this popular format to create this summery card filled with gorgeous Little Birdie flowers, chipboard, and mixed media products.

I hope you’ll join me to view this video tutorial and explore how to use paints and waxes to beautifully color resin, add a lovely finish to chipboard with embossing enamel, arrange gorgeous flowers and embellishments to fill a slimline card while creating dimension, and add sparking texture to flowers.

Tips and Techniques

This lovely resin butterfly is painted with Little Birdie’s new Multisurface paints paired with Tinted metallic paint and Metallic wax.
This gorgeous cluster includes these Boho Vibes flowers: Wendy; Francisca; Marisa; and Elira; along with Celebrate Life: Kimberly and Marisa.
Shimmery highlights are added to the flowers with Golden Glaze Tinted Metallic Paint, and sprinkled with Gala Pink and Summer Gold Metal Microbeads along with prills and glitter shards from my stash. Soft Acrylic Matte Gel Medium is used to adhere them in place.
This doily sentiment is fussy cut from the Boho Vibes 6×6″ paper set. A portion of a Little Birdie Primed Chipboard Dreamcatchatcher along with this fabulous Especially Cogs gear are finished with embossing enamel.
This chipboard feather is also heat embossed. The layered and distressed paper is from the Boho Dreams collection.
One final view to show the depth and dimension on this lovely slimline card.

“Never Stop Dreaming” Upcylced Mixed Media CD

Hello Little Birdie Crafts Fans! It’s Tracey back to share an upcycled project with you today. I think we all have old CD’s hanging around that will never be used again. I came across this one the other day and thought it would be perfect to alter with the gorgeous Little Birdie Boho Dreams collection. Please scroll down through my Tips and Techniques section to see how I put it all together.

Tips and Techniques

Select a base paper from the 6×6″ Boho Dreams paper set and cut a circle from the page to fit a CD. I used a circle die, but you could also trace the CD and hand cut the circle.

Adhere the circle of paper to the CD using Matte Acrylic Soft Gel Medium and brush the front of the paper with gel medium as well. Set aside or heat set to dry.

Dry brush the background paper lightly with Little Birdie White Gesso in the direction of the boards printed on the paper. You may notice a light circle where the center of the CD is cut out. This will be covered with the floral cascade and will not be visible on the finished piece. Set aside or use a heat tool to dry completely.

Select gorgeous Little Birdie Flowers and dry brush them lightly with white gesso. I have used the following fabulous flowers: Boho Vibes Collection – Marisa, Wendy, Julita, and Elira; along with Renae Candy Mix.

Fussy cut images from the 12×12″ and 6×6″ Boho Dreams paper packs to embellish.

I used my finger to rub Golden Glaze and Golden Plum Tinted Metallic Paints randomly across the primed chipboard Playful Circle, using the darker Golden Plum to create a shading effect. When dry, rub Copper Blaze Metallic Wax over the piece to create more shading.

Arrange and adhere elements using Silicon Glue.

Brush yellow Ocher PanPastel around the edges. Because this medium can rub off. I sealed the colored edges with a spray fixative.

Note: It would have been easier to do this step before adhering the elements. You can learn from my experience!

Tip: You could use many different mediums to color the edges. A few examples include Metallic paints or waxes, acrylic paint, inks, chalks, etc . . . I just happened to have the perfect color in my PanPastel set.

Use Matte Soft Gel Medium to adhere Summer Gold and Gala Pink Metal Microbeads to fill in around the cluster.
