Floral Card – Hello Friends

Hello Again!

Today I have done a simple card using the beautiful papers from Little Birdie Crafts. I knew I wanted to play with these watercolor type images from this paper pack from the day I got it! Take a look at what I’ve created and I’ll tell you more about how to do it.

To start, I chose three of the designs that sort of coordinated together. The pack is called ‘Floral Ballet’ and it has a great selection of small floral designs, large floral patterns and different combinations of each. It also has a few pages of large floral watercolor images & some sentiments and greetings in coordinating colors.

Once I selected my paper patterns, I grabbed a stitched rectangle die from my stash.  I decided to highlight the colors in the papers towards the center and the greenery towards the outside but really so many possibilities with this idea!  I used tape on the backside of the strips of paper so that when I ran everything through my die cut machine so my end result would be a stitched single piece in the end.

I played a little to figure out the best background mat color to use with this stitched paper rectangle by trying out different colors from the Chevron Aquarelle paper pack. So many gorgeous colors in this pack and I have nearly used it all in my projects this past year! I chose the lovely purple color because the center panel on my card has just a hint of that color.

Then I went to work die cutting my greeting.  I chose to use the lovely Alphabet Fun thin cut dies from LBC.  I did not want to keep them plain white so I opted to paint them after I die cut two sets of letters.  I did two because I wanted to be sure they held up to the paint. I adhered them to each other with liquid glue and then popped them up on dimensional tape to the front of my card.

Then finally, I added some of those 3D Pearl Drops in Candy Glaze to add a little something to finish off my card.  I hope you enjoyed my project today and I hope you’re inspired to look at your paper collection in a different way.

Birthday Flowers – Layered Card

 Hello Friends!

Today I have some lovely watercolor painted flowers for you using the Bloom Vista Stamp set from Little Birdie Crafts.  I tried to jump out of my comfort zone and do something a little different with my card base by choosing a neutral color and background.

To start, I chose the sticker from the ‘Floral Birthday Wishes’ embellishment pack.  I knew I wanted to incorporate this color scheme into my card so off I went to stamp and watercolor.

I wanted to share my watercoloring two ways.  First, I painted all the images using the Watercolor half pan set.  I mixed colors until I had shades I was happy with.  Then, I added some black colored pencil on top for some additional shading.  You can see the shaded version in the left side image.  I really liked how it added some dimension to the flowers and made them appear a little less flat than just watercoloring alone.

Once all the flowers were painted, I then die cut them out using the coordinating framelits that come with this stamp set.  I went to figuring out my design next.

After laying the pieces down on my brown card stock, I felt that I needed just a bit more interest to make the flowers pop off my card.  I went for the Chevron Stencil and some chalk paint.  I mixed the Charcoal, Walnut Cream and Orange Splash paints until I had a brown shade that I liked.  It’s subtle but I think adds that little something I was looking for.

Once I was ready to start gluing, I started adding foam tape on parts of the design to give a real 3D effect.  I left some images flat and used liquid glue, some items one layer of foam tape and a few images two layers of foam tape.  I also let a few elements overhand the edge of my card for effect.

I had a lot of fun planning this card and really enjoyed seeing my end result.  I just adore watercoloring and find it so relaxing.  I hope you get a chance to play in watercolor someday soon as well.  Until next time, have an amazing day!

I have used Boho Dreams Ephemera Embellishments along with ‘Boho Dreams’ printed cardstock collection 12*12inch paper pack for my project today.

I have also used black cardstock and colored cardstock from the brand.

Hope you enjoyed my projects today. Thanks once again for always being so appreciative and kind.
