New Beginning – Mixed Media Canvas

Hello dear Little Birdie Crafts fans! It’s Tracey here with a new project to inspire you. I have a dear friend who’s going through a rough time recently, and I created this encouraging canvas for her. This sweet sentiment from the ‘Birds and Berries’ ephemera pack is just perfect because everyday is truly a new beginning. I just adore how easy it is to mix and match gorgeous Little Birdie flowers and embellishments to create such a beautiful arrangement.

I’ve used a variety of mixed media techniques to create the canvas background and to color and add texture to chipboard and resin embellishments. I hope you’ll enjoy learning with me as you view this video with lots of details and voice instructions.

Tips and Techniques:

Little Birdie Grainy Texture Paste is applied through the beautiful Fleur-di-lis Trellis Stencil and spritzed with Black Current and Grape Crush Color Splash. Once dry, I added a little script stamping with permanent ink and color is added to the edges.

This photos is at an angle so you can see all the dimension created by layering chipboard, resin, ephemera, and flowers. Metal Microbeads and tiny seed beads are adhered to the flowers and background with Soft Gel Medium to add texture.

A close-up showing the beautiful mix of Little Birdie Flowers including Birds and Berries: Celestina and Nancy; Celebrate Life Flowers, Wendy; Fairy Sparkle Flowers: Wendy and Elvina; Bouquet Mulberry Flowers; and Pearl Pink Micro Jewlled Florettes.

This Primed Chipboard Clock with Design and resin clock are highlighted with golden Glaze Paint.

Molded pieces are colored with Chalk Paint, Metallic Wax, and Gesso for a grungy effect.

This gorgeous Primed Chipboard Swirl Corner and Brick with Window pictured in the previous photo are colored with Color Splash and gesso.

I just adore the glittery shimmer on these Birds and Berries Ephemera pieces!

Summer Notebook

Hello, Friends!! Waiting for the summer time, today I bring you a sailor project, a notebook in which I used cardboard to make the slats on the wall and a hatch with the silhouette cameo, I hope you like it.

Step by step process

First cut cardboard strips to fit in the notebook.

Once the strips were glued I gave a layer of white gesso.

To give texture, I first applied crackle paste randomly.

Once dry, I applied embossing paste with a palette knife, it gives a voluminous effect.

And on the back cover I applied Grainy Texture Paste.

Once dry, I started applying Color splash to color the project, first Ocean Mist,

And then Gold Rush.

I colored the hatch with waxes, Aqua Sheen, Silver Glitz and distress ink. For the background, I used a resin compass that was also colored with the same colors.

And this is the result, Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have enjoyed. I will see you in the next tutorial. Have a wonderful week and take good care of yourself.

Birds and Berries Mixed Media Canvas with Video Tutorial

Hello dear Little Birdie fans! It’s Tracey back to share a romantic mixed media canvas featuring the gorgeous ‘Birds and Berries’ Collection along with a video tutorial sharing all the details on how I put this together. This is my first ever video tutorial with voice. I would adore hearing what you think and how you like it.

In this DIY Mixed Media Canvas Tutorial Learn how to:
~ Adhere base paper to the canvas
~ Sand to distress edges
~ Add texture by stenciling with Grainy Texture Paste
~ Add color and texture to chipboard
~ Paint resin pieces
~ Use art wax to highlight texture
~ Dry brush with white gesso to highlight texture and soften colors
~ Add texture with Craft Pellets and Metal Microbeads
~ Add depth with Color Splash

Tips and Techniques:

I’ve used gorgeous Little Birdie flowers, chipboard, Craft Pellets, and Metallic Microbeads to create this beautiful floral cluster.

I created a grungy finish on these chipboard bird cages with Crackle Paste, and Tinted Metallic Paints. The berries are fussy cut from the Birds and Berries paper set.

More Crackled chipboard goodness. Of course I had to add a bit of bling using rhinestones for the “berries.”

Aren’t these wings beautiful? Underneath them you can see lace peeking through. It was layered over the base paper with soft gel medium.

I mixed Craft Pellents and Metal Microbeads into Soft Gel Medium to spread around the cluster for added texture. Color Splash is used to add depth around the cluster and chipboard pieces.

This sweet dragonfly was cast with resin then painted with Tinted Metallic paints and rubbed with gold Metallic Wax.
