Rusty Journey Art Panel

Hello dear Little Birdie Crafts fans! It’s Tracey here to share an industrial and masculine project with you today featuring Little Birdie’s fabulous ‘Classic Gentleman’ Collection.

My husband is a car guy, so as soon as I saw this fabulous vintage car in the collection, I knew it would be perfect for a birthday card for him.

My design ended up being too heavy for a card, so I ended up creating this rusty industrial art panel for him instead. I really do adore the images found in the ‘Classic Gentleman’ paper collection. The background papers have such amazing grungy images, that I can’t bring myself to cover them up with stenciling or other mixed media techniques.

I’ve created a full project video tutorial for you with an emphasis on rust. I created a rust paste effect technique to transform Little Birdie chipboard cogs into aged and rusted gears and also share how to get an industrial metal finish for gears cut with the Little Birdie Cogs and Wheels die set.

Tips and Techniques:

I used paint and sand to create a faux rust finish on these Little Birdie chipboard cogs. The rusty brake pad under the car image was my inspiration. Papers from the Classic Gentleman collection are used for the base and layering with the edges lightly inked rubbed using black ink.

I fussy cut images like these boots, gears, and clock from The Classic Gentleman image sheets to embellish the panel.

Gears diecut with the Cogs and Wheels die set along with this rotor are given an industrial metal finish by blending black gesso with Tawny Glint Metallic Paint.

Texture is developed by adhering Little Birdie Ebony Black Metal Microbeads, prills, and bronze mini microbeads from my stash with Little Birdie Matte Gel Medium.

This vintage car image is the star of the show!

Decorative Panel – Queen of Butterflies

Hello creative friends!
Today I, Inna Brigantina, share my inspiration with you.
Maybe the summer colours or, our beautiful papers and flowers that inspired me! But I wanted something bright and enchanting.

To begin with, I prepared the materials that I required. I decided to make a decorative panel in the form of butterfly wings .

I decided the colour palette. Some of the elements needed to be painted in the selected colours.

I also painted the flowers. I achieved the desired shades by mixing Little Birdie Color Splash sprays.

After all the elements were prepared and dry, I proceeded to my most favorite part of creativity – the assembly of the composition.

My Butterfly queen is ready. (It decorated my workshop and dream of summer with it’s bright colors).

For the inscription I used a phrase from a Little Birdie set of clear stamps. Love him.

I hope friends, you enjoyed my inspiration today. I wish you more bright colors and impressions!

With love Inna Brigantina
