Under the Sea Birthday Card

Hello dear Little Birdie Crafts fans!! It’s Tracey back to share a new project with you. Yes, this card is in a different style than I usually create. I hope you like it! Our grandson is turning two this month. He has an ocean themed room with a giant whale on his wall that he simply adores, so I couldn’t resist creating a birthday card for him using this sweet whale image from the fabulous Songs of the Sea Collection.

In this DIY video you will learn how to transform this mixed media paper set into a clean and simple card by pairing it with these fun Primed Chipboard sea creatures and hand cut images.

Tips and Techniques

This sweet whale is hand cut from the ‘Songs of the Sea’ elements sheet. I hand drew and watercolor painted these two balloons and die cut the numeral 2 to add to one of them. The balloon strings are hand drawn as well,
These darling sea creatures are from the ‘Under Water’ Primed Chipboard set and help transform these mixed media papers into a fun clean and simple card appropriate for a young child. They are colored with watercolor paints and white gesso.

These adorable chipboard pieces are paired with hand cut images which are layered and overlapped to create a natural arrangement.
This coral, bubbles, and a starfish are hand cut from the Songs of the Sea Image sheet. The ring is diecut from Little Birdie White Cardstock and colored to coordinate with the focal papers and embellishments. I’ve centered the whale in the ring and arranged the sea creatures and coral along the bottom.

A few iridescent sequins add a nice touch of sparkle.
